In the mid-19th century, Governor General Fernando Norzagaray y Escudero, due to the clamor of the people of Casay, freed the town of Casay from the political boundary of Angat. Casay was then renamed Norzagaray by its inhabitants in honor of their governor-general.
Around a century later, sometime in 1966, a group of young entrepreneurs and financial people established the Rural Bank of Norzagaray to free its people from economic hardship and help provide them with better financial future.
Today with the help of the Norzagaray Bank, it is a fast rising commercial and economic place with tourism potential. Norzagaray is the site of the biggest hydroelectric plant the National Power Corporation (NPC) has ever constructed in the entire Philippines - a 37-kilometer reservoir covered with virgin forest - a tourism site wonder.
